Welcome school year 2015-2016!

Early Education

posted Oct 23, 2013, 1:11 PM by Marsha Bruce

President Obama, in the State of the Union Address, called for a major initiative in early childhood education, declaring:

Every dollar we invest in high-quality early childhood education can save more than seven dollars later on -- by boosting graduation rates, reducing teen pregnancy, even reducing violent crime. In states that make it a priority to educate our youngest children, like Georgia or Oklahoma, studies show students grow up more likely to read and do math at grade level, graduate high school, hold a job, form more stable families of their own. We know this works. So let's do what works and make sure none of our children start the race of life already behind. Let's give our kids that chance.

Welcome school year 2013-2014. We enter this year with increased learning opportunities for all of our students. Our Program of Alternatives continues to expand to meet the individual and diverse needs of our students and our commitment to co-teaching has never been stronger. We continue our strong collaboration with Rutland Mental Health through contracted services in the area of school based therapeutic services as well as outdoor adventure.
This year we are excited to welcome our new Assistant Director, Bonnie Seelye. Bonnie focuses her energies on the faculty and students of Otter Valley Union High School wheres she serves as the facilitator and leader of all special education services.
RNESU is fortunate to maintain a dedicated and highly skilled group of para-professionals who are placed throughout our supervisory union in local schools where they support daily needs of our students. RNESU is also fortunate to maintain a dedicated and highly skilled group of special educators, speech-language pathologists, school psychologists, and support staff who work throughout our district to provide specialized instruction, comprehensive evaluation and clinical services to our students.
Working collaboratively with parents, outside service providers and various state agencies we continue to strive for excellence in all we do.
I enter this new year with great hope, determination and a renewed commitment to all we do!  Together we can move mountains!!
